Our Story
Despite living just 2 km apart for eight years without ever crossing paths, it turns out online dating was exactly what we needed to bring us together.
Since then, we’ve packed in plenty of adventures together. Traveling to PEI, Montreal, Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Paris, Boston, Nova Scotia, and Italy, with many more destinations still on the list. At home, you’ll usually find us cooking together, enjoying a good bottle of wine (Brett likes to taste it, Courtney just likes to drink it), or debating which part of the house we should reno first.
Golf is a big part of our lives, especially for Brett, who somehow manages to play nearly 100 rounds a year. Courtney enjoys golf too, mostly for the fresh air, good company, and pre, mid and post-round snacks.
The proposal came after months of very impressive secrecy. Courtney had visited the jewelry store ahead of time to share exactly what she wanted in a ring, after which Brett kept everything under wraps. For Courtney’s birthday, Brett gifted her passes to the Fairmont Spa in January 2025. Taking advantage of nice weather the day before, he suggested booking off work and going for a hike, along with a cozy cabin stay in Banff.
In the week leading up to the trip, a package arrived containing a tripod, which Brett explained as being for taking photos of the stars at the cabin. Courtney grew suspicious and searched the house for a ring, but came up empty-handed. On the day of the hike, Brett insisted on bringing the tripod “just in case,” which did little to ease her suspicions.
At the top of the hike, after taking a few photos of the view, Brett suggested setting up the tripod for some pictures together. When Courtney finally turned around, she found Brett walking over with a ring box. What followed was a happy blur. Courtney doesn’t remember much of what Brett said or even saying yes, but the photos confirm that she did.
We’re so excited to spend the rest of our lives together and can’t wait to celebrate with all of you!
